Superior North Catholic District School Board is pleased to welcome Paul Tsekouras as our new Superintendent of Education. Paul will professionally complement our existing senior team.
Tsekouras, currently an Education Officer and Private School Inspector in the Thunder Bay Ministry of Education Regional Office brings 22 years of school, system, regional and provincial education and leadership experience. Formerly a system, regional, and provincial Student Success Lead, Tsekouras’ portfolios have included Student Achievement & Well-Being, Board Improvement Planning, Curriculum, Indigenous Education, Digital Learning, Education Funding and Community Partnership Programs, Leadership, Experiential Learning, and Privacy and Data Management.
A former Student Achievement Officer, Tsekouras has served as the Provincial Co-Lead for Field Services Student Achievement Division initiatives as well as the Thunder Bay Region Lead for Education Funding and Partnership Programs since 2018. Tsekouras began teaching in 1998 in Thunder Bay in both 9-12 and 7-12 schools, working as a classroom teacher, and later in Student Services and Alternative Education. In 2007, Tsekouras began working at the system level in a variety of roles as a Student Success and Secondary Program Coordinator, District E-Learning Contact, and Managing Information for Student Achievement Lead prior to joining Secondary Administration. In 2015, Tsekouras was seconded to the Ministry of Education as one of seven Regional Student Success Leaders in Ontario tasked with strategically aiding all school boards through networking, mentorship, monitoring and professional development that enhanced alignment of K-12 programs, planning and funding to support student achievement and well-being. He joined the Thunder Bay Regional Office in 2018.
Tsekouras is deeply committed to the personal and spiritual development of all students and staff. “I am excited to join Superior North Catholic District School Board to support student success and well-being. My previous roles and experiences have taught me the value of creating and maintaining healthy relationships, and the impact of leadership, mentorship and lifelong learning. I am passionate about our region and supporting the heart, mind and soul of students. Strong, collaborative, and professional relationships among students, staff and families are key to supporting student needs, pathway exploration and system success”. Tsekouras has a Masters of Education Degree in Educational Leadership from Lakehead University.
He and his wife Sylvia have been blessed with three boys; CJ, Adrian, and Alex. The family enjoys spending time together outdoors whenever they can.
